會走上藝術創作這條路，是偶然，也是注定。台灣大學人類學系畢業後，帶著尋找小王子的心情到法國遊學，抱著試試看的心情參加南特高等藝術學院的入學甄試，結果竟一頭栽進這個世界，注定了一生要走的路。

在法國的南特高等藝術學院和巴黎第八大學完成造型藝術碩士學位，周孟曄於2004年回到台灣，開始以專職藝術家身分生存，並發表了人生第一件以物易物的計劃，探討著人際關係的系列作品，用鐵絲紙漿小人交換觀者用紙所剪的一顆心。之後持續發表個展和參加各種不同類型的聯展，累積豐富的國內外駐村和創作營經驗。

2012年6月有感於藝術離生活太遠，創立手作品牌Nightmare612，2013年進行台灣各地和澳門的擺攤人生。

2014年四月開始以物易物的新計劃。面對生命年數越來越短的事實，想要盡可能地去看和去瞭解在這個地球上所存在著的各個不同城市，和在這些城市裡生活的人：關於思考方式，生活模式，人格習性和價值觀等等。透過以物易物的模式，用藝術作品交換在陌生城市居住一個月的住宿空間。從2014年四～五月第一站的北京開始，期許這個計劃可以順利進行直到生命盡頭。

After graduating from the Dept. of Anthropology at National Taiwan University, Meng Yeh Chou  went to France with a feeling of pursuing “Le Petit Prince” in her heart. She then found art is what she wants to do whole her life. She finished her master’s degree from the Département arts plastiques from Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Nantes and Université de Paris 8. In 2004, She has been back to Taiwan and become a full-time artist till now. 

 

Meng Yeh CHOU has created her own brand of “Nightmare 612” since June, 2012 while she felt the art has gap from normal life.  

 

“Art- Residency Exchange” is her new art plan in 2014. Facing the fact of limited life, she tries her best to understand different people in different cities across the world—that is to know their way of thinking, living, behavior and their value.  Through the plan, she exchanges her own art work to get one-month opportunity to live in different cities of the world. From April to May, 2014 , Beijing is her 1st stop to station.  Shanghai is the 2nd one in December, 2014 and Sicily, Italy in May, 2015 will be the following one.  Hopefully this plan can continue till the end of life.
